Student Success Statement
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder”

Thomas Carlyle
Reflection

I think that this statement is talking about the fact that if you don’t have a goal you won’t know which way to follow and it would be harder for you to succeed. As if you already know what you want to be and what your goals are you are most likely to succeed and it would be easier. Like the example he used a ship without a rudder wouldn’t know which direction to go. So it’s better for you to set up your goals now so you won’t have to suffer later.

Student Success Statement
“If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.”
Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.

                               Chinese Proverb

I agree with this proverb simply because character determines what a person is cable of doing. In order to have peace in the world people have to have good morals and qualities. Just how these Chinese Proverb states.

Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant and accepting of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
RESPONSIBILITY: GREEN – THINK BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR A GARDEN OR FINANCES; OR AS IN BEING SOLID AND RELIABLE LIKE AN OAK
Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes • Set a good example for others
FAIRNESS: ORANGE – THINK OF DIVIDING AN ORANGE INTO EQUAL SECTIONS TO SHARE FAIRLY WITH FRIENDS
Play by the rules • Take turns and share • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly • Treat all people fairly

Student Success Statement
“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating”

Sophocles
Reflection

I strongly agree with this statement because if you win and you decided to cheat it’s not good probably you are going to feel that sensation of winning for a little while but then you won’t be able to live with the guilt of knowing that you cheating. But in the other hand if you didn’t win but you played or did everything right than you would feel proud of yourself because you did everything you could’ve done to win and you would just keep trying and trying.
Memorial Day

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer. We could host a parade dedicated for the men and women who died in the U.S. military. Customize a special offer for those who present military ID, such as 20 percent off your product or service.

Student Success Statement
“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”

Wilford Woodruff
Reflection

I agree with this statement because it’s the truth and anyone that don’t agree with it wouldn’t have evidence to support it because it’s obvious if you do the wrong you won’t get anything in exchange. For example you forget to go to tutoring and you keep lying to your teacher making up excuses well guess what you chose the wrong and you aren’t getting anything back instead you are becoming a liar and you aren’t learning.
LAUSD: Families
1.                       Counseling and Guidance
Families overcoming Under Stress™ (FOCUS) provides resiliency training to military children and families. It teaches practical skills to meet the challenges of deployment and reintegration, to communicate and solve problems effectively, and to successfully set goals together and create a shared family story. Developed by a UCLA-Harvard team, FOCUS teaches military children and families affected by multiple deployments to understand their emotional reactions, communicate more clearly, solve problems more effectively, and set and achieve their goals. Parents and children—from preschoolers to teens—learn to use tools that will better prepare them for each new deployment. Families are directly impacted when a parent returns with significant levels of combat operational stress. A parent might return home and encounter deployment reminders in their daily life, leading to changes in their mood and behavior. These changes can be upsetting to children and spouses, and affect parenting and marital relationships. FOCUS helps families understand how reactions to deployment reminders can influence relationships and teaches skills to deal with them.
2. LAUSD PARENTS' BILL OF RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents as Equal Partners in the Education of Their Children, a resolution adopted by the Board of Education in December 2010, embraces family strengths and assets as essential to the academic success of students, and recognizes parents as the first and most important lifelong teachers of their children. To that end, families and schools accept responsibility for student success

These services would defiantly benefit me personally in many ways for example if I need counseling I would just contact my school’s counselor.

My family would most likely use it in times we need help and don’t know who to ask them we would use this services.

The Nicest Man in the World

It’s really inspiring to know that in our society we still have human beings like Patrick Morgan. It was a normal day when at work he found thousands of dollars with an iPad. He decided to give it to the attorneys so they could find the owner its really interesting how the owner gave him $60 I mean sixty dollars is nothing compare to the 13 dollars he gave back I mean if another person were to find that much money I don’t think the owner would have ran with the same luck because who ever found that much money would've kept it and spend it on whatever they wanted. But that’s not the only thing he did with the sixty dollars he decided to give it away to a homeless woman he thought needed more than him. He was rewarded with a check of $630 and a certificated for being honest. He is really a good guy and deserves that and many more things. God bless him!

Student Success Statement
“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.”

Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Reflection:
I defiantly agree with her because it’s true. You do what’s right and of course people are going to have a nice image of you and congratulated you for doing the right thing. But what you feel what you think of yourself after you have done what’s right is extraordinary it’s a sensation that you can’t explain because you did the right thing and you feel good about it. You feel proud and that feeling you wouldn't want to exchange it with anything because it’s the reward you have gotten in exchange of what you have done.

LAUSD: Student Services

High School Summer School for students needing to recover credits will be available at select high schools (http://bit.ly/SummerSites) for students currently enrolled in District schools. Eligibility for students will be based upon numerous factors, and families should contact their respective school counselors to determine their best option. Summer school begins June 16 and ends July 18. Eligible students will have the opportunity to take two classes beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. with a half-hour break between classes when meals will be served.
In order to maximize the achievement and well-being of students, our multi-disciplinary team of professionals will collaborate with schools, families, Educational Service Centers, and communities to deliver quality health, mental health, and human services (Learning Support) in an equitable manner accessible by all students.

LAUSD  offers many services for students attending school from Human services to summer programs this services would benefit me in many ways for example if I were to fail any of my classes I would have the opportunity to take them in the summer and not fail that particular class. I would probably use a service that would benefit me someway but none of the ones I found grabbed my attention. But I would want to work in the summer so I could have something good to do.

Summary: Forgiveness

Forgiveness can be the only word that can help you heal after you have been injured like in the video. Renee is the mother of one of the two girls that die in a car accident due to the fact that the car driver was drunk. HE was found guilty and was sentenced 22 years of prison. Megan and Lisa were both twenty years old and they had died instantly due to the accident. Renee felt right because Eric Smallridge was going to jail but later something expectable happened. Renee asked the judged to reduce the years Eric had to pay in prison because he was really sorry and she had forgiven him. The judge did simply because she had forgiven him and later he felt relieved that he didn’t have to be carrying all the weight. Now they go to every High school and speak to kids so they can learn and prevent driving while they are drunk because it can cause many accidents. Renee states that by her forgiving him she feels happy and doesn’t have to worry about that anymore she can move on now.

Student Success Statement
“When a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive”

                     Alan Paton
Forgive: to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake.

Reflection:
I kind of agree with this statement and have my reasons why. I think that if someone has hurt us so much that we can’t forgive is not our fault it’s theirs. Meaning probably you feel better by not forgiving them probably that’s the only thing that makes you feel better that they won’t receive your forgiveness. But there’s other cases where you forgive and you feel good about because you are letting everything go and don’t have to deal with it.

Student Success Statement
“Dare to stand alone”

By: Thomas S. Manson
Reflection:
Well it depends not every time your following the crew is going to end up bad I mean it depends with who you associate yourself with. If you are a CTR person it’s obvious you’re going to be wise enough to pick good and responsible friends that won’t get you into trouble. But if you have bad friends yes it’s better to be alone than with bad people that are only taking advantages of you and making you do things you don’t want to.
